Enhancing
City Mobility
LEE Chung-yan, Angela, JP ｜ Commissioner for Transport ｜ HKSAR Government Transportation is an
integral part of people’s daily lives. It is also a pillar of Hong Kong’s
economy. Over the years, we took pride in our highly efficient road and rail
networks, which support around 11.5 million daily public transport trips a day.
The success of Hong Kong’s
public transport system is the result of concerted efforts of the Government
and different stakeholders in the past, and Hong Kong has always been a
forerunner in launching and facilitating the use of public transport. In our
bid to ever-improving transport offerings to the people of Hong Kong and those
of you who visit us from afar, we learn that relying solely on expanding our
transport infrastructure is not enough, nor is it realistic. Innovative solutions must be found. By leveraging on technology, we aim to enable
more effective traffic management, alleviate road traffic congestion, and
optimise the use of our limited road space, thereby raising the efficiency of
our transport system to the next level, with a view to enhancing city mobility._________________________________________________________________________________________
