Like all Hong Kong people, we are heartbroken by the devastating five‑alarm
fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po. Authorities have confirmed at least 44 lives
lost, with hundreds still unaccounted for, and emergency crews continue working
through difficult conditions.
On behalf of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong
Kong (CILTHK), we extend our deepest condolences to the families who have lost
loved ones, and our profound gratitude to the firefighters, paramedics, police
officers, hospital teams, district staff and volunteers serving tirelessly.
We will observe a moment of silence at upcoming Institute functions,
pause celebratory activities as appropriate, and offer assistance to members
affected by the tragedy.
As we mourn, let us also uphold the values of our profession—keeping
people and communities safe, connected, and supported.
With sympathy and solidarity,
Prof. Sam Man‑Sang Chow, FCILT
President, The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong
